(26,595 posts)Some characters are forbidden in titles and/or text.
To prevent hacking by injecting weird characters.
Note! Some greek characters (math characters) render and others dont. THIS is a goof, but a low priority fix for the admins.

(26,595 posts)I never know when a "preview" or "post" will hang up in the network, and going back will either restore my text (the title is often lost) or lo-se everything.
So, I use a browser extension "ghosttext" to mirror my typing in a text editor (this is for computer savvy people to install, but I got it to work with Firefox, Safari and Opera)
OR, like on the phone, if I have typed a lot, I copy all the text plus the title, to Apple Notes (any editor will do) so if it all goes bad, I post all over, copy and paste from the text editor/Notes and then cut and paste the title from the first line to the "title" field.
Why? Because networks are flakey. I was thinking of a way to cure this, and even post pictures, but it is a BIG DEAL and would cost me for the storage and risk of copyright takedowns (pictures and me). That's the nature of these web-based apps.
An app? Sure, that's way more work, and out of the question, though an inspiration could come any old time.

(6,572 posts)I usually do a ctrl A, ctrl C before clicking Post especially if the post is a long one in this or any other online app.
Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
