From my street-cred wisdom:
He has a pathological fear of being thought of as less than or, as he would say, a loser.
He needs to feel better than others.
He needs admiration.
Everything is transactional and winning is the only acceptable outcome including for games. Cheating, fraud, lies, intimidation are all allowed as long as trump gets the win.
He has no empathy for anyone or anything. I very much doubt he has ever apologized for anything in his life.
Etc. etc. etc.

Trump has been known to say, I cheat on my taxes. I cheat on my wives. You dont think Im going to cheat at golf on a course that I own?!
Theres a book called Commander in Cheat by Sports Illustrated writer, Rick Reilly, that details Trumps life in the golf world. Hes infamous as a cheat. He even cheated on Tiger Woods!
There are several YouTube videos of Reilly telling stories of Trumps disgusting behavior on golf courses. Except that they are infuriating to honest golfers, the videos are entertaining.
Golf is a game of skills and honor. These are qualities sadly lacking in Trumps persona.
