Anti-immigrant pitch doesn't hold up to scrutiny
“What would Los Angeles look like without illegal immigrants,” asked Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller to himself on Fox News. He painted an imagined picture of a city with widespread resources, no crime and clean streets. Caitlin Dickerson says Miller’s vision “reads like a fantasy of someone who doesn’t understand economics." Immigrants are crucial to the country’s economics, explains Ray Suarez: “We're pushing down the supply curve on both ends of the continuum…The United States has a 10 story high blinking neon help wanted sign.”
