I don't trust the OP/The Maltese Herald article in the least, but that Yahoo/Daily Beast article doesn't really contradict the claim that the man was recently killed

The Daily Beast article is dated yesterday, but the their source for the claim that the man is still alive is based on a YouTube comment, purportedly from his wife, on a video posted on July 15.
