Did a lot of studying back in college while listening to his smooth tunes.

(15,006 posts)He was bushed from playing a concert earlier, but was still gracious enough to sit in with us and play a tune when we asked him.
Nice guy, and funny too.
Here he is early on playing some bebop with Art Blakey and a 21 year old Keith Jarrett.

Aside from his more iconic songs, I definitely fell in love with his "Children of Sanchez" album.

(9,372 posts)But it was already some years ago when he started wanting to discuss his last wishes. At his funeral he wants life-affirming music. He likes a very broad spectrum on music, so his choices include Georg Philippe Telemann and Jose Carreras. But he wants the final piece - he last word - to be Mangione's "Give It All You've Got." (I have made a file of mp3s and also burned a CD.) Thank you, Chuck.
