Let me make this pellucidly clear

Yesterday when asked about the starving children in Gaza, the Cheat said that he has not been thanked enough for the 60m in food aid. I guess we should also
thank him and the rest of them for providing sll the weapons that keep on destroying the people and infrastructure in Gaza.
War crimes are still war crimes.

Even when it comes to helping starving children, it's all about him -- as if such aid is a matter of personal largesse on his part. What does he think he is, a king?

Let's face it, when they read about the time when, according to MAGATS, America was great, they will understand how the morons in charge -- certainly from Reagan onward -- sucked the democracy and sense of liberty and dignity out of American politics and led the whole enterprise to the brink of Fascism, with a fat man with a shrinking brain as the new Jesus.

I hope like hell the mother fuc**ers are crushed beneath the Iron Heel of freedom and Truth (a little Jack London reference) and sent to oblivion before they kill the grand old american concepts of fairness, equity, ahh shit, of "Liberte, Egalite, et Fraternite" -- the French said it best.

Just barely, I don't believe that we're the only group that bears responsibility. The Greatest and the Silent generations both had a hand in things and last I checked generations X, Z and the Millennial generation all contain eligible voters. It's a common complaint that boomers are the bad guys but I don't believe the hype.

How old is your grandson?

the American Nazi Bund filled Madison Square Garden with some 25,000 red blooded American "patrioict" Nazis. The bastards even wanted to cashier FDR and replace him with a Corporate Wall Street sympathizer, but thanks to General Sedley Butler who played along with the plot so he could name names before Congress the plot failed.

So, yeah, the -- to use a favorite Right Wing term, but to use it appropriately -- borderline treason of too many Americans has littered and dirtied the ranks of the GOP for decades. But I think the Boomers in the GOP -- folks born between 1946 and around 1960 -- supported the GOP's transition to fascism in uncomfortably large and enthusiastic numbers.

(But this is off topic to what I really want to say: my grandson, called "Raz" (short for Erasmus) is the cutest 7 year old in the universe. Also the smartest, wittiest, and most creative. I thank the gods for him every day. He has sparked my sluggish old life with energy belying my 80 years, helps keep my brain functioning clear and well, and has shown my calloused and cynical soul that love still exists joyfully in the world.

Thanks for asking! .)

Just who is supposed to "thank him" for that worse than pittance that is the fig leaf that makes things worse? I suppose Israel should thank him for helping it to continue the starvation campaign.

Ah, the displacement of the Palestinians from a war zone and destruction of infrastructure. Hmm, I guess the US is guilty as hell for war crimes in every war we have been involved in.
We should have stayed out of WWI, WWII, etc.

The point of this thread, although Trump is justly an evil, Orange Pedophile who brought fascism to the United States, was to basically declare the cruelty of starving kids to death an atrocity that is unjustified under any circumstance. It is a mystery how a people who have gone through the worst of times now accept doing the same thing that they had done to themselves.

It wasn't meant to declare antisimitism against every Jew on the planet. Also, being well aware how politics work and how leaders can ignore the wishes of the people, it isn't even meant to paint a broad brushstroke against the citizens of Israel proper. It points out that both the US and Israel are currently committing sins against basically themselves, as people will have to live with what they did.

I admit, I am puzzled by those posts that said, War is war and that's how the cookie crumbles. That's how far we have slipped from our basic humanity. It is difficult to watch this tragedy unfold without protesting against the utter depravity that is being shown. It's no longer about Oct. 7th. It's about revenge, which is beyond the pale when it seems like a scorched earth policy is the end point. I don't support this.

Exterminating a whole people just for land or a Hotel is not my idea for peace. And Israel is just trying to hide under the veil of "Got to end this by killing Hamas---look over there! A Hamas!" and some little kid is starving to death.

It's difficult to articulate, but if you give away that part of yourself which is your higher soul, you just can't be whole. That means when you see something unholy, or unjust, or unfair, you should try to stop it. Even if you just say, "Fuck! Stop this!" you are helping the world. And sometimes, that's all you can contribute, but at least you did it.

I think that both the US and Israel have given honor away. It is so embarrassing.

when Jews were being exterminated in Europe, and thence said "never again"...

Yes, we did nothing to help the Jews in Europe during World War II,
EXCEPT to fight the war we were fighting and try to exterminate Germans

I expect Israel to operate on a higher plane than the rest of us.
I am now disappointed.

(And YES, the United States WAS "guilty of war crimes", particularly in World War II--
when some of our generals surmised that they would be convicted of war crimes
'if we lost the war'--- particularly Gen. Curtis Lemay et al,
who was responsible for the 'fire-bombing' of civilian populations,
which killed more people than the atomic bombs did)
