Two ways to spot a scam.

Today I got what looked like a legitimate text from Apple alerting me to suspicious activity. It invited me to call a phone number or log onto a web site if I didn't recognize the activity. (I have screen shots, but I can't figure out how to include them in this post. Can anyone help me about this?)

Anyway, after 20 or more minutes of struggle I got into Chat with Apple support via Icloud.com. The message was not from Apple. But in the course of this I noticed two things that will save me this trouble next time.

1 - The country code of the text was 63, the Phillipines.

2 - The first line of the text said "Unverified Apple Pay Usage." A clue.

They're getting very clever!

from Medicare and other health sites. First question is always how old I am. My answer is 95. They either hang up or say I’m not qualified and hang up on me.
When I call back the caller ID number it says “not in service”.

Some DU members have accounts at image hosting sites. I am too far removed from such things and don't know the names of currently operational image hosts.
