(133,112 posts)FDR to put workers and the needy first. I was reading recently that jobless single men were put in work camps in Canada in the early 1930s because Governments were scared of the mayhem and communism that could grow in cities if these starving men got together. So they were put in camps and paid 20 cents a day to build roads and such. They did strike. The only thing that stopped it was a new Liberal Government in the 1930s. Same as FDR. Art would have gone hand in hand with agitating for a better deal and more humanity. Wonder if that will happen again?
