🚨BREAKING: Republicans released their proposed Texas congressional map Wednesday

Republicans released their proposed Texas congressional map Wednesday, delivering on a request from President Donald Trump that could set off a nationwide redistricting battle between red states and blue states over control of the U.S. House of Representatives in the 2026 midterm election.

The proposed map can be found here. It could add 5 new Republican congressional seats, according to Texas political observers.

The White House reportedly pressured Texas to redraw its congressional districts to produce five additional GOP seats to help protect Republicans’ narrow House majority. Texas has 38 congressional seats, currently held by 25 Republicans and 12 Democrats. District 18 has been vacant since the death of Rep. Sylvester Turner (D).

Democrats in California, Michigan and Maryland have warned they could respond by redrawing their own congressional maps. The balance could be disrupted even more if red states take a similar approach. Ohio is set to redistrict its congressional map this year, and the White House is reportedly prodding Missouri Republicans to follow in Texas’ footsteps.

This is a developing story.

What ever happened to "majority rules"? My beloved Texas has been under attack by Republican control for 45 years now. Many of these Republicans were not born in Texas even, but moved in once the red assholes took hold.

It's disgusting. I appreciate the other states' help in trying to mitigate this crap. From a born and bred Texan, thank you.

Simply because having a bipartisan commission draw the maps was added by proposition to the state constitution. It's gonna be difficult to get around that, though they're exploring avenues to do so.

True. Not gonna lie tho, TX is really taking a risk trying to get those 5 seats. 3 is doable and safe. 5? That could turn into a disaster for them. Schadenfreude for the rest of us.

Those precincts are NASTY.

10, 15, 22, 36, 6, 24 are particularly egregious. But looking more there really are more than that even..

I feel sorry for the good people in TX. They don't deserve this and representation is going to be a mess, with reps completely ignoring large parts of their constituency.
