The longer Trump is the visible head of this monster, the more likely it seems that a resistance (at every level, with every tool available) can become established enough to survive a cancelled election.

But Vance et al could pass as "legitimate" enough to make change well-nigh impossible. They are self-disciplined, young, smart, and entrenched.

Currently we have the sympathies of the decent countries of the world with us -- that could fade with a less outrageous head of state settling in for the long haul.
