They walk among us. How many in your neighborhood?

I ran into these articles from several years ago from Cuyahoga (Cleveland) and Franklin (Columbus) counties in Ohio.

27 men from Northeast Ohio arrested in undercover online child predator operation

22 men indicted for allegedly attempting to engage in sexually activity with a minor

Extrapolate these figures out for a year and that is 2463 potential offenders in/around Cuyahoga County and 4015 potential offenders in/around Franklin County each year.

that shows all of the people on the sex offender registry in your area. It would scare me to death if I had kids. Of course it isn't just child molesters. There are always perverts who rape adults as well. What to do with all of these people? You can't keep them in jail forever, but you can't leave them unmonitored in public either. I hope one day they can cure these people, or at least make them unable to do what they're doing.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
