Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted sex trafficker and longtime associate of Jeffrey Epstein, has quietly been moved from a federal prison in Florida to one in Texas, a federal Bureau of Prisons official confirmed Aug, 1.

The transfer comes as Maxwell’s attorneys are pressing the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn her conviction while also seeking a pardon or commutation for her from President Donald Trump in exchange for her cooperation in the Epstein investigation and broader sex trafficking issues.

Maxwell spent two days last week talking to Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche – Trump’s former personal defense lawyer – at a courthouse near the Tallahassee prison where she was serving a 20-year prison sentence for Epstein-related sex trafficking.

Ghislaine Maxwell Quietly Moved To Minimum Security Prison: What We Know
Up until recently, Maxwell had been serving her 20-year sentence for helping her ex Jeffrey Epstein recruit and abuse young girls at a Florida prison.

Now she has been relocated to the Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Bryan, Texas, a Bureau of Prisons spokesperson told the Sun.

Someone Waived Ghislaine Maxwell's Sex Offender Status to Move Her to a Minimum Security Camp in Texas

According to sources who have spoken on the condition of anonymity, she has been moved to FPC Bryan, about 100 miles northwest of Houston.

...
The reason for the move is listed as a “lesser security transfer” (code 308) according to a transfer document I reviewed, which is completely inappropriate of for inmates who are in the early stages of serving their sentences, according to another source. “This is such obvious corruption. I have never seen this before,” said another person at BOP familiar with the situation.

I just found this:

Federal Bureau of Prisons minimum security facilities, known as prison camps, primarily house non-violent offenders. While some minimum security facilities may house individuals with prior violence or sex offenses, they generally require a history free of violence or sex offenses for a specified period (e.g., 10 years). These camps focus on inmates with shorter sentences, those nearing release, and those with lower security needs.

So it probably is unusual that someone convicted of Maxwell's crimes be assigned to a minimum security prison. But the vast majority of prisoners there are likely guilty of "white collar" crimes as opposed to the Florida prison which would have more violent offenders.

So it may be favorable treatment. But I do maintain that Maxwell is less in danger from other prisoners than she was in Florida. I believe it would be a PR disaster for Trump if she were to die while in federal custody.

She made a deal with Blanche. She got moved to a lesser security prison which is probably more comfy than the one she just left. We shouldn't think that she will testify to anything that incriminates rumpy in child trafficking. The only question is when will he pardon her. She's getting out. Unless they nail her in the new place, which I think that he will do at some point. Once she has cleared him of wrongdoing, she will become a loose end to tidy up.

I know that our favorite lawyers have said that the Congress made the right choice to deny her immunity if she testified on Aug 11th, but I am not so sure about it. I guess I'm too eager to show rump in his true light, but I would at least have considered her true evidentiary testimony in exchange for a swift disappearance back to whatever rock she crawled out from under. We could have done that, although I don't know where she could have gone. I don't think she can stay in the States. Best spot might be the Caribbean. Or, England. Tough all the way around.

I don't know what process it would have needed, but her attorney could have nailed it down.

https://www.cnn.com/2025/08/01/politics/ghislaine-maxwell-federal-prison-texas

A minimum-security prison camp, like in Bryan, is the least-restrictive type of facility among federal prisons, housing inmates considered to be low-risk, non-violent and unlikely to escape. Camps have very little or no fencing containing the inmates, and inside they are able to move relatively freely.

Other inmates in the camp for women include Jen Shah, who was on the TV show “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” and Elizabeth Holmes, formerly of the blood-testing company Theranos.

Sam Mangel, a prison consultant who doesn’t represent Maxwell, suggested that she could run the risk of being threatened, hurt or injured in Tallahassee, especially if she continues to cooperate with the Justice Department, because the Tallahassee prison houses gang members and violent offenders.

“Given her situation, it’s the best for her,” Mangel told CNN.

It may be something more insidious, but I haven't seen anyone come up with a more plausible explanation.
