Trump’s tariffs and mass deportation program will accelerate the depletion of the trust fund and risk cuts to Social Security benefits — something the President has promised not to do. If policymakers fail to act, benefits will be cut by nearly a quarter across the board. With Social Security’s reserve depletion date less than a decade away, policymakers should not dig the hole in the system’s financing any deeper.

The Trump Administration’s actions are weakening the country’s economic outlook and Social Security’s financial footing.

1. The looming SS deficit has been in every SS Trustee Report for years. Obama tried to do something and was bashed

by Republicans and Democrats.

So, there's a good chance GOPers will decide how to handle this and we'll suffer.

2. They've already decided to dismantle the system, which is why they're manufacturing

the "emergency" that will hit us in a few years. Instead of shoring up SS by lifting the income ceiling for the SS tax, or extending the tax to non-salary income, they're deporting young people who've been paying into it, and wrecking our economy with the tariffs.
