(6,618 posts)You know, like Desantis did. We need to act.

(6,618 posts)as usual, while they're fucking doing it?
When are we going to at least join the fight with the same weapons?
If we do this right, the map should be in play for this cycle, you know, like all those f'd up maps that other states keep getting to use until they get overturned after the election.
Stop fucking talking and start doing!
Sorry for the language, I just feel like we keep fighting from the fights they were fighting fifteen years ago and they keep redesigning the arena and the rules.
When do we go cutthroat tactics?

(6,618 posts)Let's fucking cross that bridge when we get to it, you know, cause that's never stopped them.

(4,159 posts)We have honest judges. Not so in the Red states.
And someone pointed out that if all the states did this, there would be a net gain for Republicans because they run more states.
I'm not sure how the numbers would really come out, obviously it shouldn't be allowed to happen only in Red states
But I'm not so sure there's an easy solution here

(6,618 posts)That's the difference between them and us. They don't measure actions in terms of possible success, they'll tie this crap up for years all the while benefitting because as usual, we're reacting and they're protecting.

(54,890 posts)We simply must control the Executive and both Houses of Congress come Jan 20th, 2029.
The first 2 years of a Dem POTUS (Jan 20, 2029 to Jan 3rd, 2031), plus hopefully the 2nd two years as well if we maintain congressional control in the 2030 midterms, are so vital to not just starting to roll back the insane structural damage of the Trumpian era, but also to find workarounds when the new post-2030 census massive pro-Rethug/Red state reapportionment hits us hard in the 2032 midterms and beyond.
If we fail to run the table (POTUS, House, Senate) in 2028 the nation is well fucked, unless we somehow (after winning the POTUS in 2028) can gain control of both House and Senate in 2030.
If we lose the POTUS in 2028 we are in even worse shape, and if the Rethugs have control of both POTUS and both chambers the nation is in true doomsday territory, even moreso if they have full control until 2032, when the House and Electoral College maps swing, for a decade or longer, massively in their favour.

(9 posts)California Governor is a strong leader who attract a lot of people. Besides his leadership, we must have positive and effective ways to reach both active Democrats and people disaffected by Trump. A small trickle of Republicans flipped to the Democratic Party.
Our party must reboot itself with better organization, more proactive solutions, and ways to meet the needs of Americans. Gov. Newsom is the right person to implement the changes. A more aggressive member recruitment campaign is also needed to appeal to those who dislike Trump.
