Shocking story from a woman seeking healthcare at the VA. New REQUIRED questions... (Original Post) jmbar2 Aug 2025 OP
What does that question even mean? LearnedHand Aug 2025 #1
Maybe they are going to track the most private aspects of a woman's life, like her Mike 03 Aug 2025 #4

ovulation schedule or gynecology visits, to make sure she is not terminating a pregnancy, and this is a question to narrow down who to track?

Damned if I know.

Because that's what it sounds like the question was supposed to be.
"Is there anything physically stopping you from getting pregnant?" has several different contextual answers ..
The first is "Why are you asking me this when I'm here for something totally unrelated? Are we now the Republic of Gilead or something?"
The second could be "No, other than I don't want to be pregnant." Or "No, because I'm not trying to get pregnant."
The third - or first - is - "Do I have to answer this question to get care, or can we just go on with the visit? My congresscritter or the Press might want to know that answer .."

I'm wondering if it's a branch medical director question by some Oafkeeper Head trying to push his (or hers) newly allowed evilangelical prostilyzation practice on a now captive audience, or an actual policy change question.

...a question even closely related to that should be asked is if the patient needs medication that could interfere with a pregnancy, harm a fetus, etc., just to be sure the patient is aware that good contraception is needed.

Otherwise, WTF?

certain medications.

I hope to god it is something to do with that, rather than the George Orwell possibilities.

...but I thought they said "VA"...they might not have a choice, or at least not an easy one.

back in the early 70’s was in the Air Force. He was working on a plane and a heavy object fell and cut off the first part of his index finger on his left hand. The AF surgeon tried to sew it back on and it wouldn’t heal, yet they would not go back and remove it. He had to fight to get it removed and threatened to go to a civilian hospital. They threatened to put in military jail. They finally gave in and removed it. It took over a year and a half to heal. Oh, and it still bothers him. So I get it, a person may not have a choice or be able to afford going to civilian doctors.

I didn’t know him then, but it just sounded awful and I understand why he disliked being in the military so much.

If anyone thinks that this band of knuckle draggers aren't out to control women?

Think again.
