(5,068 posts)She would have done no one any good to keep revisiting the election, Biden's choices or telling the Dems what they should do next. Sure, she may have much to contribute to how we/DNC can improve, but she doesn't need to be doing that as a public lecture. I am glad she made a decision about running for CA Governor now and wish her well. She was given an impossible assignment given the timeline and she was positive and kept up the fight to the end. God's speed Kamala.

(24,975 posts)Didn't notice that chyron at the time. But he definitely criticized her actions as not supporting Dem activists enough and staying quiet until she has a book to sell. So it doesn't seem unlikely that a chyron like that was displayed.

The pic you posted did not say The Beat in the chyron:

I am just curious as to where you found the pic.
It is possible that MSNBC did put up that chyron, and if so, fuck them, but I always need to verify things before I run with them.

(54,409 posts)the Russian hosted video site.
It is a pic of a television displaying the same part of The Beat.
Here is the OP snapshot:

Notice the time: 6 46 PM Eastern US time.
Here is a snapshot I just took from the video.
Notice the time (same time. 6 46 PM, Eastern US time):

I am a long time sceptic/debunker on DU. Look at my questioning in this very thread.
Go back and look at my hundreds (maybe over 1,000) call-outs of fake news, disinfo, etc. My debunking has not exactly made me a favourite of certain types here (and I really couldn't care less TBH) when I gore a sacred cow of theirs or when I help debunk an OP with 100, 200, or more recs that also happens to be fake news.
ATM, I see (as stated above) no remotely conclusive evidence that this chyron is disnfo.
I also am more than open to changing my stance if actual valid evidence is provided.

(54,409 posts)Internet Archive is a legit site, AND it lists all the uploader info
I watched other parts of that The Beat episode that were up on the official Youtube site for MSNBC and they all exactly match every other source given here.
I see no manipulation.
It is exhausting to have to push-back on so many things that people want to believe. Confirmation bias is a hard nut to crack at times, and I as I said, to debunk (or in the case of your OP, confirm) things people want to believe is often a thankless task, and often results in enmity towards the person pushing back/debunking things people WANT to believe in, OR confirming a thing (as it is in this case) others do not want to be real.

(54,409 posts)Also, I wish people would look at threads before they rec or post positive things about already debunked misinfo/disinfo.
The worst is when an OP knows they posted bollocks, yet (openly even saying so in some cases) refuses to pull it down.
A while back (a year plus ago), I posted an OP about something that, despite my attempted pre vetting, turned out to be false. My OP had a shedload of recs as well.
I pulled it down AND I made a mea culpa OP explaining that I had fucked up.
When I make a mistake, I own it, try to fix it, and strive to learn from my error(s).

(54,409 posts)Btw, some of the most cringe and/or problematic things I have read here over the past 7 years are some of the 'I hate rap, all rap, all the time'-centred anti-Melber screeds. Shamefully, multiple ones have ventured over the line into what I actually consider racist attacks on the genre and its fanbase. Real nasty stuff, at least in my eyes.

Oopsie Daisy
(6,670 posts)... I did not accuse you of manipulation or fraud. But I have observed that your response is bit disproportionate to the actual importance of all this. Skepticism is healthy, not "dishonest". Providing a link to a Russian website only promotes further skepticism, surely that's not difficult to understand, right?
Earlier my advice was to "let it go" because it's just not that important. And with that... I intend to follow my own advice. I'm letting THIS go because this sub-thread is just not that important. I've wasted enough time with this.
Good bye. See you elsewhere.

(6,136 posts)It is an idiotic negative spin on perfectly acceptable behavior.
In a functioning democracy, the losing candidate is supposed to fade away after a concession speech. It is the heathiest way for a Democracy to transition on a regular basis.

God I hope that storming the capital and constant shit-stirring on social media isn't the new expectation for normal.

(3,279 posts)It's so easy to alter videos with AI tools anymore (and distribute them). Anyone can do it. To confirm that something has not been altered, you would need to have the original source (MSNBC). I mean that is simple right? Where is the official MSNBC source archived?
SocialDemocrat61
(7,648 posts)Show some proof. Several links to multiple site confirm the pic. Including Peacock which is NBC's streaming service. That's the offical site. Are you saying that someone hacked into Peacock and altered their video just to change that one chyron?

Even if I could assure that it meant anything, my cyber-security people will kill me.
It doesn't really prove anything since the video could be altered as easily as the still photo capture. Find it on the MSNBC site if you want any kind of assurances
Besides, I don't care. As I said, it is an idiotic thing to criticize someone for.

(29,078 posts)Hillary rule: no saying something nice without a snarky insult (like doing great in a debate and Chuck Todd calling you "over prepared" -- last year he said, Say what you will about Hillary, at least she accepted the election results); losing to Trump is entirely their personal fault because of not using just the right words, not enough press conference words (what are they hiding, how can we trust them, there's just something about them I don't like), too many meandering words, the nation heard Kamala on "The View" not using the perfect words and Hillary didn't go to Wisconsin and eat cheese, the choice was clear.
Oh, and books will be mocked as excuses. Infamous case of terrible "What Happened" review by person who hadn't even read it. Rule of never giving Democrats the benefit of the doubt and assuming bad intentions and being a horrible person. Rule of blaming Democrats for not stopping Republicans.
