(516 posts)Retired Lt. Col Anthony Aguilar, Special Forces Green Beret, who helped with aid distribution in Gaza has something to say about it at 1:50 in the following video.

(256 posts)Why is Hamas choosing to fight around these food distribution sites? I had enough of this guy by the 5 minute mark.
Of course Hamas is looking to kill as many Israelis as possible at places they can be found, exposed.
My point of making this thread and quoting the Quora guy, is in response to all the talk about Israel trying deliberately to starve the Palestinians. Kill them off.

(256 posts)In one minute he says that these are in combat zones, the next he is blaming them for having real bullets in those combat zones.

(37,535 posts)Part of the fight was saying what a valuable asset he'd been and would continue to be; part of it was threatening and saying he'd get revenge if they didn't hire him back.
Hard to know what that all means--he was okay working for a horrible organization but only would expose them if not rehired? How much of this expose is exaggerated for the purpose of the revenge he threatened?

(10,988 posts)Because the IDF is there- He said instead of putting up a sign so people leaving know to turn left - the IDF shoots (supposedly) over their heads to get them in the right direction. These poor Palestinians have to walk 5 to 10 miles to food distribution in combat zones.

(10,988 posts)He gave a letter of resignation and they wanted him to stay on. He has correspondence to prove this. He talked about these allegations on Breaking Points with Krystal Ball and on Tuckers show.

(3,511 posts)A simple google search will pull up many news articles on the starvation in Gaza from a wide assortment of news agencies.
Why are you splattering this offensive propaganda here?

(3,511 posts)The award-winning Israeli author David Grossman has described his countrys campaign in Gaza as a genocide and said he now cant help but use the term.
I ask myself: how did we get here? the celebrated writer and peace activist told the Italian daily La Repubblica in an interview published on Friday.
How did we come to be accused of genocide? Just uttering that word genocide in reference to Israel, to the Jewish people, that alone, the fact that this association can even be made, should be enough to tell us that something very wrong is happening to us.
Grossman said that for many years he had refused to use the term. But now I cant help myself not after what Ive read in the papers, not after the images Ive seen, not after speaking with people whove been there. This word is an avalanche: once you say it, it just gets bigger, like an avalanche. And it adds even more destruction and suffering, he said.

(3,511 posts)This week, Israels own leading human rights group announced that it had reached the unequivocal conclusion that Israel is taking coordinated action to intentionally destroy Palestinian society in the Gaza Strip. In other words, said BTselem, Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

BTselem joins Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and Doctors Without Borders in reaching this conclusion.

(256 posts)Israel is not pursuing genocide. Looks like the Palestinian martyr/sacrifice operation is finally winning the day.
And of course Netanyahu has been a disaster for Israel. Starting from not being able to prevent October 7.
Gaugamela
(3,511 posts)really the last 78 years, going back to the Nakba? The UN recognizes the right of an occupied people to fight against their oppressors. That doesnt exonerate terrorism against civilians, but Israel has had Gaza in a stranglehold for decades, and enjoys the largesse of the US MIC, and when you get this kind of extreme asymmetry in warfare the oppressed will use any means at their disposal. Israel, on the other hand, a state that would not have been allowed to exist under the Geneva Conventions, is committing war crimes.

(10,988 posts)- nothing like being a child amputee and getting starved to death too.
Looks like when they do have food - they are staying alive with bread. Do they ever have protein or fruit?

(10,988 posts)American doctor Ellie has confirmed that medical teams in Gaza are treating patients under extreme conditions without access to food, clean water, or essential medical supplies. Like the rest of the civilians, they are enduring severe hunger and devastation.

(256 posts)The fact remains that Gaza is and was relying on aid. They don't have their priorities straight.
Israel has bombed the region's infrastructure to oblivion. They have bombed crops and food businesses. They have deliberately imposed a policy of starvation. That you blame Gazans is unreal.
The Quora poster calls out no disinformation. He lies.

(57,757 posts)The intent of that writer is to ensure that genocide proceeds unfettered. That you site some idiot on Quora as an expert indicates poor judgement. 1000 rabbis and other Jewish leaders just denounced the conditions in Gaza. Why won't you listen to them?

(256 posts)Everyone agrees that this is a horrible situation and the Palestinians are bearing the brunt of it, but why is it wrong to call out fake stuff?
I had the same question before reading that thread, why are the mothers and siblings of these emaciated kids not having the same emaciated appearance?
I then looked up why kids get to appear much more emaciated than the adults around them, and was satisfied that that is the way things are, kids are more vulnerable to malnutrition/starvation, so I didn't make anything out of it.
Even though my thinking is that Palestinians believe in making martyrs out of children. And sending women as suicide bombers.
I didn't put it past them to sacrifice many kids.
But this guy makes the claim that he looked up what the problem was with the more horrific looking photos out there, that they were suffering from other conditions not just lack of food.
Genocide?
iemanja
(57,757 posts)1) That adults are well fed
2) The use of quotation marks around starving children, as though they weren't real
3) the obvious point that children are more vulnerable. Mothers have talked about the fact they have no more milk to feed their infants, who are disproportionately suffering.
4) the intent of the post is to deny the widespread famine inflicting Hamas, and that it is a deliberate policy by the Israeli government.
5) Why then have thousands of Jews spoken out against the famine? Why have two prominent Israeli human rights groups denounced genocide? Why has former Israeli PM Olmert spoken out?
6) There is overwhelming evidence of mass starvation in Gaza. All the press have covered it, including Haaretz.
7) The purpose of the post is to cover up for the famine and therefore ensure more Palestinians die.
8) The stated policy of Israeli is to rid the region of all Palestinians and famine is part of that plan. I gave you evidence of just that through the many articles on the concentration camp in Rafah, which you ignored.
Pompoy
(256 posts)Of course there isn't enough food to go around, Hamas creates the conditions. It's Israel doing the feeding.
The Quora guy agrees that people are suffering. He tries to counter propaganda is all.
I'm not going to take seriously anybody who says that Israel's stated goal is to get rid of the region (Gaza) of Palestinians.
Although, I'm sure that they would want a buffer zone after October 7.
Obviously I ignored the story about the concentration camp in Rafa, maybe it was because you provided too many links.
As for the 2 Israeli rights groups calling it genocide, I googled it, but the CNN story I link here didn't convince me.
https://www.cnn.com/2025/07/28/middleeast/israeli-human-rights-group-accuses-israel-genocide-gaza-intl
It's human instinct to empathize with the weak, but it's not the police's and the prosecutor's fault if the children of killers and robbers suffer because their parents end up in jail.
Israel is feeding and providing water and even medical help to Palestinian children. But war is a horrible thing.
iemanja
(57,757 posts)It shoots at people trying to get food and water. That there may be a fat person in Gaza doesn't negate the fact that famine is widespread, as declared by the IPC and many international groups, thousands of rabbis and Jewish leaders, Israeli human rights organizations, and the international community as a whole. You're not convinced that those two human rights organizations denounced genocide, or you aren't convinced that you should care?
Hamas is responsible for Oct 7. It is NOT responsible for the conditions in Gaza. Israel is. It has bombed the region for a year and a half. It has deliberately imposed starvation by refusing human rights groups with food aid entry into the country, and even the IDF has admitted it has shot at people seeking food and water. Those are facts.
Too many links? I provided 4. You could have read any one of them, if you had the desire to know the truth. Even The Times of Israel article would have been enough, but you ignore even the Israeli press.
Nothing will convince you. You ignore evidence at all costs. And even when you see it, you obfuscate and misstate the facts. And now you admit that starvation exists, only make up excuses for why you shouldn't care. You've exposed yourself, and I'm done with you.
