I don't know where you got that idea. The flower children were anti reagan as you could get. There were many number of the "greatest" group who had voted for Kennedy who switched over because of a lot of reasons. The hatred of the "hippy anti-war" crowd fueled this exodus into the Reagan camp. Reagan himself ran on a platform of anti-radical flower tree hugging hatred.
