IL Gov. Pritzker is on Colbert tonight (aug. 5) (see article below on IL "remap" possible per pritzker)

Pritzker says Illinois remap is possible as DNC chair vows to fight Texas GOP efforts 'tooth and nail'
Democrats in New York, California and Illinois are threatening to redraw their own maps in retaliation to Republican redistricting efforts in Texas.
By Tina Sfondeles Aug 5, 2025, 12:54pm CDT

Gov. JB Pritzker on Tuesday opened the door further to a potential mid-decade congressional remap in Illinois, as Texas Democrats continued their Midwestern refuge and Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin vowed to fight GOP efforts “tooth and nail.”

“This is not the Democratic Party of your grandfather, which would bring a pencil to the knife fight. This is a new Democratic Party,” Martin said at an Aurora news conference alongside Pritzker and Texas Democrats. “We’re bringing a knife to a knife fight, and we’re going to fight, fight and fight.”

Texas Democrats are in Illinois, New York and Massachusetts to deny Republicans a quorum needed to approve new maps that would expand the state’s GOP congressional majority ahead of next year’s midterm elections, at the behest of President Donald Trump.

Even as Martin countered the president’s comments, saying, “No party is entitled to any district,” Democrats in New York, California and Illinois are threatening to redraw their own maps in retaliation — and the DNC is prepared to support them.

……because their party won a particular state.

Trump has spent his entire goddamned life claiming he is “entitled” to everything.

That rat bastard is entitled only to spending the rest of his life in the shittiest prison on the planet.

Illinois has a great deal of conservative land downstate. There isn't a ton of difference between Iowa and the part of Illinois between Springfield and Cairo. They have three districts now, plus 22, plus 20, and plus 11. We have four seats that are plus single digits. All seven of those districts are by each other. Trying to carve another seat out of that part of Illinois runs a grave risk of being a dummymander.

On edit they could cut into Chicago and target LaHood who has the plus 11. It would take a decent number of people to make that work. If they do this, I would shore up the for single digit districts to the extent I could and make the remaining two GOP districts even more GOP. I will say we probably need LaHood's district to become at least plus 5 for us to assure he loses. That would be a 16 point swing. Again maybe we could do this but we want to be careful not to hurt those single digit districts.

Nothing new about his stupidities, but in a recent interview he was asked about Pardoning MAXWELL, COMBS, and SANTOS. He had on his "thoughtful" face, like he's having all these weighty considerations going on in his mind, yet one by one his thoughts all came down to whether they supported or liked him. He said he knew and liked COMBS a long time but COMBS had said some bad things about him in the campaigns, however favorable leanings remain. Said SANTOS has been *very* supportive. And well MAXWELL, the wishes-her-well thing.

He explained that his mother was an activist. She was a champion of reproductive rights which was a bit unusual for the 1960s and 70s. She would take him to rallies and that shaped him to who he is today. I can now see why this billionaire is the way he is. I'm sure, somewhere, there is a very proud mom shining down on him.
