CBS Exec Who Fired Stephen Colbert Is Now in Charge of 'South Park'

Will George Cheeks kill Kenny?

Now that Skydance has officially acquired Paramount, the shuffling of the executive deck chairs has begun. One curious decision: All of the shows previously under Paramount’s “scripted production” are moving to the new Paramount TV Studios, according to Deadline — all except for one.

South Park will be part of a different portfolio headed by Paramount Global co-CEO George Cheeks, who also has the new title of Chair of TV Media. Does the name “George Cheeks” sound familiar? Most network suits stay anonymously in the background, but Cheeks made recent headlines as the guy who issued the pink slip to Stephen Colbert.

Cheeks now has a lot on his plate, heading up CBS, its news and sports divisions and a number of Paramount’s old cable properties, including MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and BET. Connect the dots and — you got it — Cheeks is now the guy in charge of The Daily Show as well.

Will a new, seemingly Trump-friendly boss bode ill for The Daily Show and South Park? Not necessarily. While Cheeks can’t be thrilled with those shows thumbing their noses at the White House, there are reasons he might let the comedians do their worst.

Cheeks would be well-advised to just leave South Park alone. flvegan Aug 2025 #5

But first let me remark that you can’t make this stuff up. This guy’s name is “Cheeks” ?

That sounds like something Colbert would make up, but instead it’s like a joke the universe made up.

To my point, however, whatever or wherever Colbert and South Park do or end up, they will be fabulously popular. CBS deserves to take a loss on them, both financially and because they deserve yet another hit to their already sleazy rep.

If you have any doubt, read up on Sumner Redstone, the founder, and also the history of the CBS.. I read a book about it and also talked with the author, who is a local. Actually, come to think of it, Colbert probably knows him because they are both in the same town.

These networks simply distribute the content, they don't make it or own it. FAFO.

Just laugh along with the rest of us, no matter how they make him, Paramount/CBS or anyone else involved look. Rake in the ad cash and be done with it.

They got their money and seem to be in glorious "fuck all y'all" mode and the Trump/Saddam/Satan storyline doesn't appear to be going anywhere, and I sense the Paramount/CBS/Skydance mockery has only just begun.

No sense getting your assCheeks individually involved in it.
