When asked "what company.' They just say "your cable company or whatever"
I pushed for the name of the company and they hang up. It's so stupid.

(4,136 posts)Said they observed me watching porn, and they were going to tell my wife/work/friends about it, unless I paid them XXX amount. I'm retired, so I told them to come on over, knock on the door, and we'll watch together. No answer...

(103 posts)I am Clark Kent residing at 1260 Lois Lane. I even have a fake Medicare ID that I know by heart. I now get lots of phone calls asking to speak with Clark. I try to never let on that I'm scamming the scammers, almost entirely South Asian accents. When they can't validate the Medicare ID it drives them crazy. As someone said, better they spend time with me than someone naive enough to provide legit data.

(29,981 posts)Mostly SSA and healthcare scams, sprinkled with bogus home, tax and auto services.
Old people dont stand a chance with all of the various tricks they pull. If someone has slight cognitive decline, theyre done for.
The US needs to pressure India, but shutting down an industry that brings billions into the country wont be easy to do. While it violates two of the deadly sins, being a thief and associating with thieves, it just shows how morally bankrupt many are, just like the fake Christians that permeate the Republican Party.

(1,372 posts)A woman gave her name and said she's calling me because she and her mother have been wronged and she wants to talk to me before the end of the day before getting legal representation. She said she's researched me online and this is the right number to call. She left her number and it was a bit garbled but I looked it up and there's a warning about it being a scam.
One thing I don't do when I get a spam call or text is to panic. I examine it, research it if needed, and 95% of the time I either delete or report it as spam.
