Rosie O'Donnell Fears 'The View' Will Get Canceled After Trump Comments: "The Truth Is Dangerous Now"

https://deadline.com/2025/08/rosie-odonnell-fears-the-view-canceled-1236481952/

As The Late Show with Stephen Colbert continues its death row march, Rosie O’Donnell predicts her ABC alma mater The View will be given a similar sentence. Following the Donald Trump administration’s recent warning that the roundtable talk show could be “the next to be pulled off air,” the 12x Emmy winner expressed her fears for the Barbara Walters creation in a post entitled ‘Silencing The View‘.

“You know what I just read today? ABC is ‘reviewing the liberal bias’ on The View. THE VIEW. The show with five women speaking [their] own opinions – That’s the threat now,” she started in the lengthy statement on TikTok. “They say they’re not canceling it— they’re just ‘reviewing the bias.’ Which is code for – we’re gonna cancel it we’re just trying to soften you up first.

“Because it’s not enough to run the country into the ground You have to control what people SEE, What they HEAR, What they think. And The View? Well, that’s a little too much woman – a little too much truth – a little too much Joy Behar saying ‘I don’t think the insurrection was a tourist visit, Karen.’ Apparently, the truth is dangerous now.”

Referring to the United States under Trump as “a dictatorship with good lighting,” O’Donnell added, “And I’ve done THE VIEW – twice. I know how hard it is to get four women to agree on lunch – let alone politics So don’t tell me The View is some radical leftist threat. “This isn’t about bias – This is about obedience. This is about removing any program that doesn’t align with Trumpism – soft fascism in full lashes with commercial breaks,” she wrote in part.

From what I can find, the show remains extremely profitable for ABC. Anything they replaced it with would make far less money. Also, their ratings remain high.

https://www.detpress.com/abcnews/pressrelease/the-view-delivers-its-most-watched-2nd-quarter-in-5-years-with-gains-across-the-board/#:~:text=ABC's%20%E2%80%9CThe%20View%E2%80%9D%20delivered%202.463,4%25%20%E2%80%93%202.463%20million%20vs.

ABC’s “The View” delivered 2.463 million Total Viewers, 202,000 Women 25-54 and 148,000 Women 18-49 during the 2nd Quarter of 2025, based on Most Current Data from Nielsen Media Research.

“The View” improved on the year-ago quarter (2Q24) in Total Viewers (+4% – 2.463 million vs. 2.368 million), Women 25-54 (+3% – 202,000 vs. 197,000) and Women 18-49 (+4% – 148,000 vs. 137,000), delivered its most-watched 2nd quarter in 5 years — since 2Q20.

For the 2nd quarter, “The View” ranked No. 1 in Households (1.64 rating) and Total Viewers (2.463 million) among the daytime network talk shows and news programs, leading NBC’s “TODAY Third Hour” (1.10 rating and 1.710 million, respectively), “TODAY with Jenna & Friends” (0.75 rating and 1.156 million, respectively) and “NBC News Daily” (0.72 rating and 1.095 million, respectively).

Women are being blasted out of sky like clay pigeons, shattered and broken on the ground all around us. But we don’t see what we see.

Trump will kick millions off of Social Security before summer.
Trump will definitely declare martial law on April 20
Trump will have the military arrest thousands of people if they protest on June 14
The tanks brought to DC for his military parade will never leave, and be used to crush dissent
Ghislane Maxwell will be pardoned by the weekend.

A teeny tiny sampling of things posters here on DU were absolutely certain would happen over rhe past few months. They were wrong on every single one of them.

For the record, I never made a definitive statement. Just my opinion. I have no problems making definitive statements when I'm 100% sure of something - like Trump definitely will NOT do a new census to redistrict things before the midterms. That's a 100% guarantee.

He threatens their bread and butter, and the show that brings in 50 mil a year is easy to get rid of when youre getting back 100 million, or more in sweetheart deals.

People need to wake up. Nothing is impossible.

I can remember when the complaint was about “uppity women.” How it was “portrayed” in the rare showcases when women were given room to speak their minds.

We have A LOT more to talk about than fashion frippery and recipe sharing.

He seems to be relieved that his show is ending next year. Probably he's glad to be getting away from the CBS-Paramount clusterfuck anyway. With all that uncertainty and bad karma, Stephen probably didn't feel like taking a chance with the new owners, who are certain to be even bigger assholes than the old owners of CBS.

But with ABC/Disney and The View, it's a different story. They have great ratings and little competition during the daytime, I'm sure the advertisers are happy, and there's good talent behind the cameras and in front. There would be no reason to cancel this show, with or without Rosie O'Donnell.
