George Will on Real Time with Bill Maher yesterday was a beast.

Made some good points, particularly about Trump's power grabs. Also said he thinks senators should be ineligible to be president. Maher said that would have left America without Obama and Kennedy as presidents. Will replied that he would have settled for that.

He has long been ant-D/democratic, going back to at least the 80s. It’s sad that his schtick is now so palatable to Americans.

What I would call the old "stuffshirt", 1980's version of Senate cloakroom, prim and proper, "reach across the aisle" Republican.

Trump is slash and burn and damn the torpedoes...It's not that George Will necessarily disagrees with much of Trump's deep core agenda, he just views Trump as a bull in a china shop.

5. The natural response would have been to say

That would have left America without George H.W. Bush and Nixon as POTUS (since Will is a conservative). But that would require Maher to know as much about American history and political science as he only thinks he does.

But he was in the House and left in 71, 9 years before he first ran for President and 17 years before he was elected. Nixon was a Senator but left in 53, 7 years before he first ran and 14 years before he was elected. Kennedy and Obama were sitting Senators when they ran and were elected.
