Zelensky Rejects Ceding Territory to Russia After Trump Suggests a Land Swap

Mr. Trump said on Friday that he would meet with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia on Aug. 15 in Alaska to discuss a possible peace deal, with potential land swaps most likely on the agenda.

“We’re going to get some back, and we’re going to get some switched,” he said during an event at the White House. “There’ll be some swapping of territories to the betterment of both.”

Mr. Trump did not clarify which territories could be swapped, and Ukrainian officials appeared uncertain about what he meant. Because Ukraine holds no Russian land, a swap would mean ceding Ukrainian-controlled territory in return for land currently occupied by Russia.

“Ukrainians will not gift their land to the occupier,” Mr. Zelensky said in a video address from his office in Kyiv, several hours after Mr. Trump’s remarks, which appeared to overlook Ukraine’s role in the negotiations.

“Any decisions made against us, any decisions made without Ukraine, are at the same time decisions against peace,” Mr. Zelensky said. “They will bring nothing. These are dead decisions; they will never work.”

It was done in the USSR Yalts, Crimea 4–11 February 1945. The US and UK essentially sold out Eastern Europe to Stalin.

...but Roosevelt wanted the Soviets help against Japan, three months until Hitler's surrender.

It was a negotiation, and the U.S. wasn't in so much of an adversarial position against the Soviets at the time, as there was that wary alliance.

They balanced interests, and hindsight lets us see the mistakes made, perhaps, among the enormous challenges the allies faced in that volatile period in history.

The Soviet entry into the war was a significant factor in the Japanese government's decision to surrender unconditionally, as it was made apparent that the Soviet Union was not willing to act as a third party in negotiating an end to hostilities on conditional term.

It was a pivotal moment in World War II's conclusion. The invasion of Japanese-occupied Manchuria by the Soviet Union, which began on August 9, 1945, was a surprise attack that effectively ended the Japanese resistance in the region.

I don't believe Yalta changed the USSR/Stalin trajectory but it probably hastened Japan's surrender.

with laughable negotiating skills, an embarrassing clown demeanor on the world stage making him an international laughing stock, while the obliterating bomber perceives himself as some sort of global peacemaker.

77 million racist scum imagined they could trust him with the button, and that may be our downfall.

The agreement provided for the German annexation of part of Czechoslovakia called the Sudetenland, where three million people, mainly ethnic Germans, lived.

But.. while he's not, he really, deep down, thinks he is, probably Hitler reincarnated.
Too many nights of "Mein Kampf" before sleeping. And Ivana wasn't Eva.
He's lost touch with reality in that he wants to finish what Adolph started. And probably because he thinks all the people he actually screwed were the ones repsonsible for his incompetence.
Now, if he destroys Hitler's true enemy, America, he will vindicate Hitler as himself and in HIS mind, rightfully rule the world.
And since he's slowly turning against Russia, the Hitlerian part of his brain is seeking retribution for Russia's attack on Germany.
Next up will be the instance where Trump/Hitler lied to Putin/Stalin only this will be revenge against Putin. Sadly, Vlad doesn't realize this...yet. And when he does, he will have no choice but to react, poorly and more than ineffectually, but react. And trump feels he will finally be able to beat Russia. And without Russia, Trump/Hitler will take on Europe.
Buckle up baby, things are gonna get bumpy unless some people from both sides put sanity in front of greed.

Everything he has done has been a 21st Century repeat of Germany in the 30s.
This is a hollywood/scifi script he's following.
I'm surprised he hasn't taken the title Chancelor! Yet!
More people need to brush up on what the comaprisons are between that time and what trump is doing now.
Those of us who have followed and understand that are not surprised. But we need to get it through to others before it's too late. He even has his chosen people just like Adolph...to a TEE!

I said before, If we're not careful, we're going to repeat the 20th Century...but this time with a better equipped and aided by traitorous organizations, Reich!
