Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) and Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows (R) filed a legal complaint in California urging local law enforcement to act on arrest warrants issued by the Texas statehouse for their colleagues who left the state ahead of a controversial redistricting vote.
Texans are fed up with lawmakers who refuse to do their jobs and instead run away to states like California to exploit radical governors broken political systems as a shield, Paxton said in a Saturday statement.
[California Gov.] Gavin Newsom [(D)] may be comfortable with lawlessness and the protection of corrupt legislators, but Texas will not tolerate elected officials who defy the Constitution for political theater, he added.

(1,372 posts)HEY ABBOT! can ask the governors of California, Illinois, and New York to have their police to arrest the Texas Democratic Freedom Fighters but there is no requirement form them to do it. Also, Texas law enforcement doesn't have the authority to arrest andone outside their state.

(8,103 posts)Doesn't it make you wonder how someone who wants something from you can make such a hate filled speech? I read that and thought, Go fish, ahole. Never gonna give you what you want.
Experts are saying that the warrants aren't what you think they are anyway, and don't have much legal heftiness. Newsom can't possibly arrest them. Someone else can explain this again to me, but I think it's laughable.
I mean, the bully effect doesn't work in California. It just doesn't.
