Honestly, he strikes me as someone who is being held hostage. Every now and then they lead him to a camera and he obediently reads a script.
He was never someone I liked, but it seems like the old Marco is gone.

(29,242 posts)When I had a kink in my wife's immigration process back in 2012. In fact, his was the only office that was helpful at all. My democratic congress woman and Senators were useless.
I hated his politics, but he was damn good at doing the job of Senator.
I can't reconcile that Senator to what I see today.

(131,241 posts)but he's saying and doing it anyhow because he anticipates a chance for the presidency when Trump is out of the picture. In the meantime he's singing Trump's tune, keeping himself in the spotlight in a way that wouldn't be possible for a mere senator. He's a hostage to his own ambition, and he's not letting whatever principles he might have once had stand in the way.
