Trump's policy toward Ukraine/Russia/Putin can best be compared to a hurricane forecast 2-3 days out

When all the forecast models have more or less converged and are showing an eventual interaction with a high-pressure trough.

Yes, the current trajectory has it looking as though the storm is going one way. But you know eventually it's going to hit that ridge and make a sudden turn in another direction. It's a given, a certainty.

Similarly, everyone has been talking about how Trump supposedly has made "tough" talk towards Putin as of late, where he talks about sanctions and supposedly being upset about targeting civilians, etc.

That's all a facade. It's not going to last. He wants to meet with Putin, and either he's obsessed with Putin's "strongman" persona or he's afraid that Putin has kompromat on him. Most likely both.

He'll fold like a deck of cards when he meets Putin. Putin will go into one of his pseudo-history diatribes, Trump will buy it hook, line and sinker, and soon enough Trump will be demanding that Ukraine give up part of its territory to Russia for "peace."

Don't be fooled by the current direction. The storm is going to turn pretty quickly. Eventually it is going to hit that high pressure trough, and it is going to turn.
