22. Like "reciprocal" tariffs, "land swap" doesn't mean what it sounds like.

It sounds like Russia gets some Ukraine territory, and Ukraine gets some Russia territory in exchange. From what I can tell, it seems the concept is more like Russia getting some Ukraine territory in exchange for, at best, giving back some other Ukraine territory. Basically, just letting them keep some of what they have taken instead of all of it, is now being called a "swap" to make it sound more equitable.

But he didn’t say in which countries the land will be swapped. I have to wonder if Alaska is on the table. After all, Putin pretty much considers it Russian territory already. Maybe Trump cedes Alaska to Putin, plus some land in Ukraine, and Putin agrees to retreat from the rest of the Ukrainian territory he is currently occupying. Of course that sounds completely insane, but so are the players. It almost goes without saying that the most important part of the deal would be that Putin agrees not to release the mountains of incriminating stuff that he has on Trump.

Obviously, Trump has no business making deals on behalf of Ukraine, or giving away American land, but it’s good to be king. Like everything else he does, who’s going to stop him?
