(2,601 posts)Except his treatment plan, which is tailored to the patients condition and receptivity to treatment. Hes almost undoubtedly on some form of hormone therapy. He may opt for chemo as well, consistent with current thinking re advanced PC to hit it hard up front. In any case, declining testosterone and PSA numbers take some time to show up in the bloodwork. The first year is hard to get through physically and mentally, especially knowing that you could lose hormone sensitivity at any time and become castration resistant. CRPC is not easy to treat.
And I know there were no updates during my chemo series. My only updates were on my side effects. A few patient built a toxicity to our carbo/taxcil cocktail and they had to design a new treatment for her, putting her behind her original date to stop her chemo series. Like you said, nothing is known during treatment. They give it a few weeks and then test. (Mine was 6 weeks after my last treatment.)

(30,096 posts)He's possibly in the middle of treatment at the moment and no updates would be available.
When I had cancer the only updates during chemo were along the lines of my hair fell out, I was nauseous, I had a bug bite that got infected, etc. They usually finish the series, wait a few weeks and then retest. There's probably nothing to update.
