Seattle police are responding Monday to a viral video of a man wearing a swastika armband getting punched in downtown Seattle.
Police said they they received several reports Sunday of a man wearing a swastika instigating fights at Third Avenue and Pine Street. Police said they were on the scene within five minutes and found the man — with a Nazi flag armband — on the ground. “He declined to provide info about incident & left after removing his armband,” Seattle police said in a tweet about the incident on Monday.
No one else at the scene contacted officers to make a report about the incident, police said. On social-media sites, such as Reddit, photographs of the man and the knockout video were widely circulated on Monday.
One of the photos appears to show the man on a bus, wearing an armband with a swastika on his right arm.
In the video, the same man appears to be in the midst of a confrontation near the McDonald’s near Third Avenue and Pine Street. He can be heard saying something about “welfare” before another person punches the swastika-wearing man in the jaw and knocks him to the sidewalk, where he lies motionless. The person who threw the punch appears to walk near the person with the camera, and “Ain’t got nothing to talk about” can be heard. Another person says, “night night.” Seattle police said there is not an investigation underway because no one reported a crime.
