I wish ever Democrat would start calling the Republican Party
"The Republic Party."
When the media says, "why are you calling it the Republic Party?" Democrats should respond, "why do you call the Democratic Party, the Democrat Party?"
This is so minor, but it bugs the shit of me that they've done it so much that many people now actally say the "Democrat Party." On the other hand, that shop probably sailed along time ago.

(4,157 posts)It bugs me to no end. Especially when Democrats and liberal media repeat it.
They can't allow the adjective which can have double meaning. It implies the Democratic party is democratic, which sounds like a complement, or like we believe in democracy. Yes, that's why the name was chosen.
They also can't imagine that we can tell which meaning is meant by context, even though that worked just fine for 200 years. That is partly partly due to lack of education, besides the meanness.
Similarly Republican implies that they are republican. It's just harder to call them the Republic party, because a republic is a country. A Democrat/democrat is a valid word for a person, when used correctly. Besides, Democrats are more educated and less mean in that petty sort of way.

Refer to them as the opposition. Or the other side.
If asked why.......well, the Republican party died a long time ago. What we have now is just a bunch of organized grifters.

(4,157 posts)of radical (meaning root, no punintended). It makes one look at the word differently. And clearly, radical is not always a bad thing. It depends on the context.

(27,773 posts)Democrat Party is an epithet and pejorative for the Democratic Party of the United States,[1][2][3] often used in a disparaging fashion by the party's opponents.[4] While use of the term started out as non-hostile, it has grown in its negative use since the 1940s, in particular by members of the Republican Partyin party platforms, partisan speeches, and press releasesas well as by conservative commentators and third party politicians.[5][6][7]

(31 posts)The reason Republicans enforce this kind of thing is because they can. They have billionaires who can give marching orders and the apparatchiks in the Party salute and follow orders. Democrats don't have any such thing, and when we try come up with a talking point, there's going to be 1000 people who say, "My idea is better." Biden started calling Trump "The Former Guy," but Trump still has hundreds of names made up by liberals around the country. Nobody can agree on just one, because they think the one they came up with is better.
Not a criticism per se, but an observation on the nature of the left and why we're harder to organize on stuff like this.

Theyve been referring the Democratic Party as the Democrat Party for years to the point even the news media in repeating it. So if the republicans want to play that game then Ill play my game and refer to them as the republic party and as republicans.

Nothin' cute or pseudo-clever, just simple truth.
It seems to bother them, especially those who insist on calling themselves "Conservatives" with a capital 'c'.
They don't know what "conservative" means. They've just dragged the term with them over 50, 60, 70 years or more, from Republicans to whom they have no political resemblance and probably wouldn't even recognize, especially those pre-Reagan. (Remember, they consider John McCain, the only actual conservative Republican I can think of in the last 40 years,a traitor.)
