I would prefer they just respond with,
"I don't know anything about this 'Democrat Party,' but the DemocratIC Party says otherwise."
As for Republicans, I tend to refer to them as "Rethuglicans." It's fitting, especially now that they and Dear Leader have ramped up their thug behavior to astronomic levels.
