After reporting about Trump's claim of DC crime, they provided stats that contradicted him.
They also showed through consumer index prices how everything is much more expensive.

(64,688 posts)they seem to have a stake in making Trump AND all the MAGAts look good.
Edit to add - I haven't watched networks probably since maybe Jimmy Carter was president.

(1,027 posts)That Walter Cronkite and Edward R. Murrow are spinning in their respective graves. CBS stays far away from anything that could be interpreted in any way as controversial.

(816 posts)Have not watched network news in years because I get it all online. I often wonder what the general public is hearing so this gives me some hope.

(22,593 posts)When the media acts like everything is peachy keen and perfectly normal, it feels like a slap in the face to me, like a great big FU on top of everything we're already going through. At least NBC is pointing out that he's wrong and telling it like it is.
And think of how pissed he'll be. He can't stand to have his lies contradicted , and he's going to HATE this!

(10,724 posts)They first presented why the troops were called out in DC, to combat a big uptick in crime. Then they reported that records show that the crime rate in DC is actually down quite a bit and has been for a while.
I loved it!

(41,637 posts)I don't know, maybe some of the smarter people at MSNBC are having an effect on the main network.
They don't have to play footsie with Chump the way CBS did. I'm sure that's part of it.
I try to watch the NBC Nightly News every day, if I can. My cable plays their show on repeats, so I can catch it later.

(1,056 posts)...if you want to survive in the Post-Trump World, which IS coming, probably sooner rather than later, start reporting like the Meidas Touch Network does. If not, you will continue to see your
audience shrink, and demographics will eventually catch up with you.

(32,335 posts)I watch freespeechtv.org for my morning news, Wednesday is Malcolm Nance Day, he was on fire as usual.
Many here on DU would not like everything he and Stephanie said this morning, had to do with fighting fire with fire.
I start watching MSNBC at 4 PM when Nicolle comes on. Many here at DU would not agree with what her guests said yesterday, about how Democratic voters are ahead of Congressional Democrats regarding understanding the dangers our democracy is facing and how to fight back. The panel did say that Congressional Democrats have time to catch up. Marc Elias said that Republicans are going to use AI to draw up voting maps and in those maps Democrats will not be able to win.
I like Symonne at 7, but usually don't watch, I like Rachel one day a week, I like Lawrence but am usually headed for bed.
MSNBC fired my 2 favorite cable news anchors, Dylan Ratigan and Keith Olbermann. Hated it when they fired Mehdi.
Should have given Katie Phang Ari Melber's slot.
With that said, I never watch the other networks, never. Yesterday was the first day in a while that Nicolle did not lead with Epstein.

(6,129 posts)... 'balanced.'
"Trump says crime is out of control in D.C., while Democrats say it's at a 30 year low." That's the kind of 'fair and balanced' horseshit that I'd expect to hear, oozing out of Jake Tapper's putrid pie hole.
When you report facts, that's not called balanced news. It's just called 'NEWS."
