JD Vance is now vacationing in a $28,000 per week luxury Scottish estate.

No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen @NoLieWithBTC
So far this year JD Vance has gone on vacations in Vermont, Massachusetts, and California... and now he wants to go to Hawaii.
All blue states that MAGA calls hellholes.

Vance plans his next vacation: "We all really want to go to Hawaii at some point in the next couple years. Hopefully we can find some excuse as Vice President to go"

On August 12, his 18-vehicle motorcade visited a UK farm shop. Now he needs an "excuse" for Hawaii. The Secret Service has apparently been downgraded from a protection detail to a luxury travel agency.
This is a pattern. In August, the Secret Service literally raised a river for his birthday boat trip. In July, he was booed at Disneyland. In February, protesters cut his Vermont ski trip short. The admin uses public funds to demand luxury in the very "hellholes" it publicly condemns.Link to tweet
...and Trump and his family are reeling in the big bucks, grifting off of his presidency:

The Trump familys crypto venture has generated more wealth since the electionsome $4.5 billionthan any other part of the presidents business empire. A major reason for the success is a partnership with an under-the-radar trading platform quietly administered by Binance, whose founder is seeking a pardon from Trump.

Trump accepted a $400M luxury jet from Qatar. But for Trump to use the plane, it has to be secure.
What will it cost to modify and take the plane apart? At least $1 BILLION from taxpayers.
Trumps hiding that by using funds from one of our nuclear programs.

...meanwhile, for the vast majority of Americans:

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, Republicans Big Beautiful Betrayal will take $1,200 a year from Americans most in needwhile handing the richest more than $13,000 a year. Its no wonder Americans oppose this bill.

...and this Dickensian inhumanity, punishing Americans for being poor or mentally ill:
Trump administration threatens jail time for homeless on DC streets
Homeless individuals will be given the option to leave their encampment, to be taken to a homeless shelter, to be offered addiction or mental health services, said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. And if they refuse, they will be susceptible to fines or to jail time.
According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, there were about 5,600 homeless people in Washington, DC down from about 8,300 in 2016. Of those homeless people counted in January 2025, about 1,000 were sleeping on the streets any given night. The majority of the rest were either staying with friends, in hotels or in one of the city's shelters.

(1,922 posts)ashamed that I bitched about Dan Quayle and George HW Bush as much as I did back in the day. They were genuinely decent, albeit dense guys compared to this POS

(109,271 posts)I knew from watching late night TV that he was bad, but I had no idea we'd be stuck with these dipshits. Quayle feels overqualified by today's standards!
