5. The Nobels are the opposite -- it's considered bad luck/taste to speculate about getting the Nobel in your field.

Open lobbying for yourself is considered exceptionally gauche.

Many won't even say the name -- they refer to it as "the Swedish prize" to avoid jinxing their chances.

Of course, this is in the arts and sciences. Different standards could (and probably do) apply for the Peace Prize. More politics involved.

To Turnip, it's just one more symbol of outstanding achievement, and he couldn't care less about the nature of that achievement; he just wants to be acknowledged as superior, without having achieved anything of positive note -- just bluster and bloviate.
