Only a quarter of Ukrainians want to fight to the end against Russia

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/08/07/poll-ukrainians-fight-to-the-end-russia-results/

More than two thirds of the population favour a negotiated end to the three-year war as soon as possible

Lots of folks here are going to be angry how this resolves.

Zelenskyy has already said, he can't give Russia territory, it would have to be brought to a referendum and the people would vote.

I'm just hoping that Ukraine gets a nice package in return... massive Western investment, security guarantees and an EU membership as soon as their gov't meets the EU standards.

I mean, Ukraine emerging from the Soviet Union in the early 90s was shaky but still democratically oriented. I'd hardly call it a "regime."

And Budapest guaranteed the Ukrainian borders. Full stop.

Why is it that anybody that doesn't agree with every jot and tittle of every point of everyone, become a "trope"?

Has it ever occurred that different opinions occur in life?

How was the Gallup poll question phrased, how many were polled, and just how do you conduct a scientific poll in a war zone?

I bet the parents of the 10,000 Ukrainian kids that were kidnapped and relocated to Russia (note: this is a form of genocide) are in favor of fighting until victory.

I bet Gallup didn’t poll any Ukrainians in Russian occupied territory about whether they want their country to fight until victory.

They're the ones with dead, and injured relatives, and friends. Rubbled areas in cities, whole villages gone, electrical outages, etc. I might have distant relatives there, but I've never looked into it.

Here in NYC is the largest Ukrainian-American population in the USA. Lots in Canada, too.

FU, Putin, and trump!

Before the invasion these were thriving cities.

Donetsk had a modern airport, brand new 70,000 seat stadium, new highways being built. That's all been basically frozen in time since 2014 when the Russian and separatist proxy forces took over.

And Mariupol? Well, that place was 90% destroyed after 2022.

You don't know Ukrainians if you honestly think they will be okay surrending vast parts of their land to Russia.

Obviously the ones who could did, at great personal peril.

I'm sure many of them would prefer to return home if possible. But they don't want to return to Putinist Russia.
