was just indicted by a state grand jury on two counts of first degree murder for the Hortmans, four counts of attempted murder - the Hoffmans and their daughter, plus a legislator who wasn't home - and animal cruelty (justice for Gilbert!). Boelter was indicted on federal charges last month; a trial isn't scheduled yet, but the county attorney said that Boelter isn't likely to be arraigned on the state charges until the feds are finished with him. She also pointed out that these are two tracks of prosecution but both are necessary, noting that if someday Boelter were to be federally pardoned, the state charges would keep him incarcerated. It's interesting that the county attorney even brought up the thought that Boelter might be pardoned someday. https://www.startribune.com/hennepin-county-grand-jury-indicts-vance-boelter-for-first-degree-murder-adds-animal-cruelty-charge/601454789

(5,252 posts)Intuitively, we know it.... so an eventual pardon is not so far-fetched, especially right before Trump left office---
He's already pardoned hundreds of violent criminals, why not Boelter?

(131,242 posts)if he's only convicted of federal crimes, so she is making sure Boelter is being prosecuted on all possible state charges. Obviously Walz wouldn't do it, and it's highly unlikely that any future governor would either.
