Titans of the D.C. Bar Launch New Non-Profit Law Firm to Defend the Rule of Law
Washington, D.C., August 4, 2025 The steering committee of the Washington Litigation Group announces the launch of a new boutique, non-profit law firm dedicated to providing pro bono services to defend the rule of law. The Group is prepared to immediately take on a range of cases, free of chargesuch as challenging unlawful executive orders and agency action, suing to protect wrongfully fired public servants, representing clients in congressional investigations and criminal prosecutions, and more.
The Washington Litigation Group is a response to the urgent need for high quality, pro bono representation. At the moment when the threat to the rule of law is at its apex and the nation most needs lawyers to preserve the fabric of the Republic, too many of Americas major law firms have retreated, resulting in a gap in legal resources for pro bono legal assistance. The Washington Litigation Group is an effort to plug that gap by representing individuals and institutions who have been unlawfully targeted for exercising their rights, and by bringing affirmative litigation to curb governmental overreach.
The Washington Litigation Groups steering committee includes some of the most respected members of the D.C. legal community, who are donating their time to the effort . . .
The steering committee has assembled a team of experienced appellate attorneys and line prosecutors who have argued before the Supreme Court and taken dozens of cases to trial.I and other members of the steering committee have come out of retirement to form the Washington Litigation Group because we are deeply concerned about the state of the rule of law in our country and because we understand the enormous effort it will take to preserve it, said Tom Green. Every passing day we see the increased need for committed and talented lawyers to join this cause, and we have done so by engaging some of the best lawyers from government and the private sector as we undertake to do our part.
