GOP RUN CITIES AWASH IN VIOLENT CRIME!!!
It felt so good to type that title and to use maga-type mania for emphasis. We will let this serve as an example of how Newsomian (yes, I just coined a word) tit-for-tat can be used in other cases. In this case, VIOLENT CRIME IN GOP RUN CITIES!
In their appeals to bigoted dopes who need their racist notions to be fed regularly, fox news and it's ilk have used an old republican trick of bashing Democrats by using urban crime as a demonstration of what they consider inefficacy of Democratic leaders. This is based on stereotypes bigoted dopes carry of big cities of crime being a particular problem caused by Black and Brown men [for further proof, see Atticus' closing argument in court in "To Kill a Mockingbird or use of Willie Horton to scare white voters in 1988].
It's one of the many ways the fox news universe has it much easier. It's very easy to whip bigoted dopes up into a frenzy, based not on truth, but on what hateful little scenarios infest their minds. Even as crime decreased during the Biden Administration after PEAKING IN 2020, the fox news-iverse continued to play up "crime in Dem-run cities." In typical fashion, these visitations to the topic lacked any fairness and balance. That leaves it up to us to provide some of our own balance.
Republican-run cities are just as susceptible to the smear based on the most recent statistics. Bear in mind that crime has been decreasing all over, but if you included that caveat, it wouldn't be a smear. So with that, let's look at an overview of the violent crime rates in some republican-run cities in comparison to the national violent crime rate.
Fort Worth Texas - Violent crime rate higher than the national average.
Oklahoma City - Violent crime rate higher than the national average.
Fresno - Violent crime higher than the national average.
Bakersfield - Violent crime higher than the national average.
Lexington, KY - Violent crime rate higher than the national average.
Lubbock, TX - Violent crime rate higher than the national average.
Baton Rouge - Violent crime rate higher than the national average.
Hialeah, FL - Violent crime rate higher than the national average.
Miami, FL - Violent crime rate higher than the national average.
The methodology can certainly be questioned and the data does not account for all circumstances. But this ain't a fuckin' statistics class. It's politics.
