Trump's Alaska meeting with Putin reminded me
Of Trump's visit to North Korea.
It was a move that no other western leader was considering doing. It gave a huge media play to a leader desperate to establish credibility, and the gains were all one-sided.
America got nothing from this meeting. Russia TV will play Trump's clear over fawning for weeks or months. Just like North Korea got a media sensation event while giving Trump nothing, Putin got put back on the world stage while Trump got nothing but completely humiliated. This should be a surprise to no one because he was awful on the world stage his first term. Easily played, easily manipulated, hopelessly compromised. Sad really.
