BBC: End of Ukraine war 'closer than ever' thanks to Trump, says Starmer

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c78mve9209ro

US President Donald Trump's actions have brought the end of the war in Ukraine "closer than ever before", Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has said.
...
Following the calls, he said in a statement: "I welcome the openness of the United States, alongside Europe, to provide robust security guarantees to Ukraine as part of any deal.

"President Trump's efforts have brought us closer than ever before to ending Russia's illegal war in Ukraine.

"His leadership in pursuit of an end to the killing should be commended," Sir Keir said.

Instant deal killer for Putin. Starmer knows this. He also probably figures it will be the first item Trump throws overboard when Putin pushes back, making this a pretty savvy statement IMO.

European allies are trying to underscore the importance of security guarantees to the US president as he seeks an agreement between Ukraine and Russia and not an unconditional ceasefire.

French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need to continue supporting Ukraine "and to maintain pressure on Russia," as long as Moscow continues its war of aggression.

Going way overboard on the asskissing of Agent Orange in hopes of keeping UK on the good graces and no increasing tariffs…

European leaders playing the game, praise and flatter Trump while slowly pushing him towards a more acceptable deal for Ukraine and Europe.

Because it still is bullshit and disgusting- if they actually believe what they are saying to be true.

I personally think all this capitulation to the Toddler to make him happy is a mistake.

I would much rather prefer Macron, Starmer, Merz etc all called out Trump for the fascist bullshit and criminal that he is.

But - that’s me…guess I just look at history and who Trump is and truly believe it’s a mistake to massage his ego like that in hopes to please him and get what they want.
