(2,153 posts)We had a small impromptu rally today in the crossroads of our city. I was surprised how much hate we got compared to being at the capital or downtown. We had a guy on a motorcycle give the nazi salute all the way through the intersection. We heard Trump forever from a guy walking into a barber shop. I was carrying my flag that says, Hate Won't Make Us Great, and I had a guy in a car asked me if I know what would make the us great. I took the bait, and he said, we need another civil war. I told him the last one never ended. He said, no, I'm serious. Then the light changed and I stuck on an island in the middle of traffic. Then there were many middle fingers and peeling out of big trucks. We got some good honking though. And a shy acknowledgement from a car of Latinos. Many young white women giving us positive love. We probably didn't change any minds, but, we brought attention to the fact that this isn't normal. Being together with like minded people is such a healing tonic.

(114,669 posts)because we know what that thing has done to Americans exercising their constitutional right to assemble peacefully and voice their opinions.
Fatso is going to pretend he's under attack by terrorists.
His overreaction wo't discourage many, quite the opposite.
So these are brave people.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
