Multiple Kentucky Whiskey Distilleries File for Bankruptcy

trump is killing these companies

https://www.newsweek.com/kentucky-whiskey-distilleries-bankruptcy-2108644

Kentucky's storied whiskey business is facing significant difficulties, with a number of distilleries filing for bankruptcy amid mounting debt, falling demand and uncertain global trade conditions.

Last month, LMD Holdings, the parent company of the Danville-based Luca Mariano Distillery, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the Eastern District of Michigan, where it is registered.

Why It Matters
The state's bourbon and whiskey industry—estimated to be worth about $9 billion, according to the Kentucky Distillers' Association—is currently facing an array of challenges. Many, including cost-pressured consumers, shifting preferences among young drinkers away from whiskey and potential ramifications of tariffs on sales in key export markets, are also impacting the nationwide spirits industry and the thousands it employs nationwide.

Lisa Hawkins, chief of communications at the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States, an association representing producers across the country, told Newsweek that the "hardships facing distilleries are not unique to those just in Kentucky," and that the future of both the whiskey and wider spirits industry will depend largely on the outcome of trade negotiations.

not to mention what alcohol does to your good gut bacteria and overall health. The tariffs will help finish the industry off. Imho the amount of DNA damaging acetaldehyde alcohol leaves in the body is concerning enough to quit drinking.

Assume for a moment that ethanol had never discovered previously and that someone suddenly synthesized this new substance. If alcohol were subjected to scrutiny concerning its safety and legality, I believe it would end up on Schedule I because it’s dangerous as a medical anesthetic and it has a high potential for abuse.

I cut out hard spirits (with the exception of a very rare sip of Mezcal) years ago, and now only rarely have a beer if out with friends. The difference this has made in my mental and physical health has been miraculous.

11. I cut out vodka and tonics about 8 years ago, just drinking wine. Then I had to cut out wine because of the health

effects on my aging body. Now I drink FRE wine which is made as real wine first and then had the alcohol removed (they explain the process on their website). I love the Merlot grape and the FRE Merlot is delicious.

The main problem is that Kentucky is full of Kentuckians.
