(The Center Square) A judge has expanded a temporary restraining order against former U.S. Rep. Robert (Beto) ORourke and his organization, Powered by People, as well as ActBlue and any bank or financial institution with whom they do business.
The order was issued on Saturday after Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a motion with the court on Friday requesting it to expand an initial order issued last week.
Eight days ago, a Texas district court granted a request for a temporary restraining order against ORourke and Powered by People, after both claimed to raise money to fund dozens of House Democrats leaving Texas, The Center Square reported. More than 50 left in protest to prevent the Texas House from conducting official business, including voting for a Congressional redistricting bill they oppose.
Paxtons office also launched an investigation into Powered by the People and Texas Majority PAC, The Center Square reported.

(34,296 posts)Thanks to people sending a message to the Democratic Party about things like Gaza by not voting for Kamala, the fascist Nazis now control almost all of the courts.
Our response has to be something that weve never done before.
Must be extreme, I understand someones trying to organize a general strike, I dont know who.

(39,222 posts)Here is a short article from the Forth Worth Star-Telegram:
https://www.star-telegram.com/news/politics-government/state-politics/article311732236.html
348th District Court Judge Megan Fahey issued the freeze as an expansion of an original restraining order filed against ORourke on Aug. 8, according to court documents. Faheys ruling came one day after lawyers for ORourke argued in a downtown Fort Worth courtroom that the funds are a form of free speech protected under the First Amendment.
The dispute stems from ORourke and his organizations effort to fund Texas Democrats who fled the state to deny the legislature a chance to vote on redistricting legislation, the Star-Telegram previously reported.
Fahey also denied ORourkes motion to move the proceedings to El Paso County, according to court documents. ORourkes attorneys argued that El Paso County was the proper venue because it is where the activist lives and where his non-profit does business...
