(29,698 posts)Does Netanyahu order troops to commit atrocities, or they do it on their own initiative? Either way, the just-following-orders excuse is not going to hold up for these monsters.
Please, please, make the horrors stop.

(10,988 posts)With wounds to head, abdomen, legs, genitalia. If you are evil enough to shoot to shoot children, you are capable of anything. An American doctor that puts his life in grave danger to go to Gaza to operate in an area thats being bombed every day - I would think is more of a saint than a liar.

Dr. Sidhwa is a trauma and general surgeon who worked at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, Gaza, for two weeks in March and April.
Oct. 9, 2024
I worked as a trauma surgeon in Gaza from March 25 to April 8. Ive volunteered in Ukraine and Haiti, and I grew up in Flint, Mich. Ive seen violence and worked in conflict zones. But of the many things that stood out about working in a hospital in Gaza, one got to me: Nearly every day I was there, I saw a new young child who had been shot in the head or the chest, virtually all of whom went on to die. Thirteen in total.
At the time, I assumed this had to be the work of a particularly sadistic soldier located nearby. But after returning home, I met an emergency medicine physician who had worked in a different hospital in Gaza two months before me. I couldnt believe the number of kids I saw shot in the head, I told him. To my surprise, he responded: Yeah, me, too. Every single day.
( list of drs seeing kids with bullet wounds in article - here are a few
Dr. Irfan Galaria
Plastic and reconstructive surgeon, 48 years old, Chantilly, Va.
Our team cared for about four or five children, ages 5 to 8 years old, that were all shot with single shots to the head. They all presented to the emergency room at the same time. They all died.
Dr. Ndal Farah
Anesthesiologist, 42 years old, Toledo, Ohio
I saw many children. In my experience the gunshot wound was often to the head. Many had non-curable, permanent brain damage. It was almost a daily occurrence to have children arrive at the hospital with gunshot wounds to the head.

(58,283 posts)The facts he is describing don't make sense. If the mother was shot in the abdomen with a IDF soldier's rifle, and it hit the fetus, there would be nothing recognizable left of the fetus, certainly not a "neck." Plus, it is unlikely he would have done the surgery he is describing. He is a radiologist, according to his bio on his podcast, not a trauma surgeon. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dr-aziz-rahman-providing-humanitarian-aid-in-gaza-radiology/id1178831764?i=1000721408854

(1,798 posts)Not only would the fetus be too small, there's no way to aim that precisely at a target you can't see. Sure they could aim in the general region, but to intentionally target something that small inside a human body seems like assuming intent beyond a reasonable certainty. There's plenty of ugliness being committed that is verified.

(4,716 posts)with accusations because she is Palestinian and I'm Jewish. It was not in the context of anything in particular. She just got in my face and said "I'm Palestinian." I had to gather my thoughts as to why she was declaring this to me as all I was doing was weeding a garden for which I was responsible.
Just because the doctor is American doesn't mean that he isn't biased.
Some would think the same if the situation was reversed if it was an American Jewish doctor making claims against Palestinians.
Asking for additional sources is reasonable.

(10,988 posts)Dr. Mark Perlmutter, an orthopedic surgeon from North Carolina and vice president of the International College of Surgeons, volunteered in Gaza from late April through mid-May.
"I've never seen that before," he said. "I've seen more incinerated children than I've ever seen in my entire life, combined. I've seen more shredded children in just the first week
missing body parts, being crushed by buildings, the greatest majority, or bomb explosions, the next greatest majority. We've taken shrapnel as big as my thumb out of eight-year-olds. And then there's sniper bullets. I have children that were shot twice."
When asked, You're saying that children in Gaza are being shot by snipers?" Perlmutter replied, Definitively.
He added, I have two children that I have photographs of that were shot so perfectly in the chest, I couldn't put my stethoscope over their heart more accurately, and directly on the side of the head, in the same child. No toddler gets shot twice by mistake by the 'world's best sniper.' And they're dead-center shots."

(58,283 posts)That Instagram and Arabnews link you cite both go to the same tik tok clip of a supposed "Israeli soldier" speaking in English saying he was "looking for babies, but there are no babies." It made the rounds on various pro-Palestinian sites, but no mainstream outlet carried it, let alone confirmed that it is what the tik tok post says it is.
The Al Jazeera clip basically says the fact that kids are getting shot in a war zone is proof that kids are targeted. But anyone running around in an active war zone has a high probability of being shot, whether they are targeted or not.

These "visitor visas" are issued to Palestinian children wounded and maimed in Israeli bombings of Gaza who come to the US for medical treatment. Now the Trump State Dept. is cutting them off after some fanatic anti-Palestinian bigot influencers complained. The cruelty is beyond comprehension.

🚨 BREAKING: After far-right influencer @lauraloomer raged online about a few severely injured Palestinian children arriving in the U.S. for life-saving medical interventions, the State Department announced it has suspended all visitor visas for individuals from Gaza.
On Twitter, the State Department indicated no more children in urgent need of medical treatment will be allowed into the U.S. while it conducts a full and thorough review of the process and procedures used to issue a small number of temporary medical-humanitarian visas in recent days.
Loomer had tagged Secretary Rubio and the department in a series of frenzied posts yesterday, demanding wounded Palestinian children be barred from receiving medical care in the U.S. The videos she highlighted shared the work of HEAL Palestine, a U.S.-registered nonprofit that arranges specialized, life-saving care for severely injured children from Gazachildren who cannot receive adequate treatment locallyand has brought dozens to U.S. hospitals so far

(4,263 posts)There is no excuse - NONE - for shooting women and children.
So these doctors see all manner of human carnage. Including women shot who are pregnant and have been shot in the uterus and their baby has exploded for God's sake!
This doctor was using that godawful scenario he had the misfortune to witness to raise awareness of the horror and the war crimes.
But instead of being sickened, outraged and demanding an end to the carnage of SHOOTING WOMEN AND CHILDREN, including pregnant ones, some people for whatever reason try to cast doubt on the honesty of the messenger to distract from the larger issue.
I can't think of a single justifiable reason to do that. I mean Palestinian women and children are people too, right? Just like Ukrainian women and children, right? I wonder if these same people question the honesty and veracity of Ukrainian eyewitnesses. If not, what's different?
