Regarding negotiations with Russia

what is the reason for the invasion in the first place ? What is Putin's rationale for invading Ukraine ? Is it just because he wants the land and minerals ? This would be the first question to ask in any negotiation because if there is no good reason given then negotiations stop there and demands from the US from Ukraine and other nations begin with nothing given to Russia.

1. Not that he consulted me, but I believe he wants to restore the old Soviet empire, and expand it.

rightly belongs to a greater Russia. (this notion would have all of Ukraine included as part of the 'old Russia' ) And additionally - a rightful (and fully justified by 'security concerns' ) 'sphere of influence' - wherein former states and client states remain mostly compliant - and most certainly are not going to be drifting off into other alliances (read NATO, etc.)

Given the long memories and intransigence of the human race - these beliefs are probably likely to persist for - another 3, 4, 500 hundred years? And will almost certainly get a boost, and become more entrenched - when Putin succeeds in clawing back territory(s) from Ukraine.

instead of the "crypto bro" troika Vance, Musk and Theil?

These are not good choices, so the entire sycophantic, grifting, blackmailed GOP needs to be ousted.

Now President Trump said it is up to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to get a peace deal done with Russia after the U.S. president met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday. ,
So, behind closed doors, Putin reiterated his demands and conditions for a peace deal, Trump said it sounded fair to him and if Zelensky doesn't accept the conditions, Ukraine and Europe can deal with it.

I hope that even maga-heads can see this as a failure of "The Master of the Deal" as an empty sack.

I was friends with a very conservative guy who joined the Marines and later worked at a weapons lab.

Helped him write his resume.

He said that he despised Nixon as "a failure and a fuckup"

And that was remarkable.

He can take his swollen ankles/phlebitis and go home to Mother Russia.

Heinrich: And what was really stunning to me as someone who has been in a lot of these press conferences a few things very unusual. You had Putin come out and address the press first. We are on U.S. Soil here

Fox News Reporter Jacqui Heinrich: The way that it felt in the room was not good. It did not seem like things went well. And it seemed like Putin came in and steam rolled, got right into what he wanted to say and got his photo next to the president and then left

10. I have speculated that the meeting was entirely about buying those videos that Putin has. Not much uptake on that.

So maybe there are two sets of videos?

• Epstein's collection (and you KNOW he took countless videos)
and
• Putin's treasure chest?

What kind of meeting was this when Trump went in with a "Thank You Sir, may I have another." attitude?

Its a convenient answer of course, but all that territory helped bring down the USSR and the Imperial Russian Empire prior to that. A few of those old republics were all intents and purposes leeches to thier treasury and production.

I won't go into details as I'll get flamed angrily here. But its fairly clear Putin had every intention of invading and eating a portion of Ukraine for a VERY long time. Forgot when, but he told the Polish government once he got the piece he thought belonged to them, he would turn a blind eye of them taking what used to be there's. Poland politely declined.

Another issue, our unbridled support for the drunkard Yeltsin. My understanding is that its still a major embarrasment over there. Ironically, our support of him got the USA to basically "sign off" on making a non-descript, unassuming and appeared lacking ambition former KGB agent who was only a mayor with no major accolades into a Vice President. That being of course Putin.

Again, there are more reasons, but it will be like the Cuban missile crisis. All the reasons won't come out until much later.

Four months into the invasion, Putin compared himself to Russian emperor Peter the Great. He said that Tsar Peter had returned "Russian land" to the empire, and that "it is now also our responsibility to return (Russian) land". Peter Dickinson of the Atlantic Council sees these comments as proof that Putin "is waging an old-fashioned imperial war of conquest".

Russian imperialism

And I would expect that if some parts of Ukraine are ceded to Putin he will take some time to rest up and rebuild his military before continuing his war of aggression westward aimed at taking more of the former SSRs.
