My friends there are mostly retirement age so they shouldn't be affected too much..

I got to see the corporate takeover of the place. When I left, the only place not corporate owned on the strip was the Imperial palace. Down town still had a couple of properties, frequented by locals. Smaller gambling places were popping up off those 2 areas. Mostly locals.
Lounge acts were still cheap, you vould get inexpensive buffets but more expensive ones were coming in. Corporate ownership tried to make everything a profit center. Buffets were a loss leader in the old days.

It's been a couple of decades since I've been back for anytime.

I live in Reno and you can bet that I voted for the Democrat up and down the ticket. Hopefully, Governor Lombardo will be a one term governor.

States don't vote, people vote. "Nevada" didn't vote for anything. Your callous disregard for the people there is noted and that includes 705,197 who voted for Harris/Walz (47.49% of the vote) and 767,000 children.

since he got a majority of the popular vote. is that good enough for you?

“States don’t vote”- what a ridiculous thing to nitpick about. And as for my “callous disregard”, yes I am pissed at red states that voted for TSF and his horrible policies. And if that offends your sensibilities, too bad.

$20 to park? When I'm seeing a show and/or have reservations at a celebrity restaurant?

Resort fee's when you may not even use them, particularly when in the winter the pools are closed?

Buffets that just keep increasing in cost?

Limitations on the "free drinks" you can order? And still watered down or reduced size?

Attractions that cost an arm and a leg?

I think their Pricing Analysts/Managers have jumped the shark. Sure, people don't gamble as much as they either know better or you have people who can't afford the minimum $20 table games. So find ways to encourage people to generate profit in one area while using it to take care a loss area. Set realistic profit margins overall. Stock price may suffer a bit, but generating consistent and stable returns is better than wild swings.

Instead of cheap buffets and comped shows, with the revenue being centered on gambling, Vegas kind of flipped somewhere in the last 10 or so years. Was shocked at how high end things seemed when I was there a couple years ago. Seemed they were catering more to the jet setter crowd with high end restaurants and clubs, added fees, and just a different overall experience.

But with international tourism grinding to a halt, you're going to see it reorganize itself now soon IMO.

A good gaming experience, cheap drinks, some good entertainment, and lots of unique architecture have given way to the corporate greed.

No coffee in the rooms. A damned slice of pizza is $15. No comps. I gambled a few thousand dollars over a five day stay and I NEVER saw a hand pay on the strip. Not one. The slots are dog shit. 3/2 blackjack is gone. Now it is 6/5. Every roulette wheel now has a 000 in addition to 0 and 00. $5 craps - hah! Try to find a table less than $20 if you can actually find a table with a dealer to behind with. The shows suck. I can only watch so many Cirque shows - they are all the same. A bunch of Eastern European acrobats running around at a frenetic pace. The Tournament of Kings (one of my favorite shows) hasn’t been updated in years. Only Penn and Teller change their shows yearly. David Copperfield is still good - but he’s too damned old to be doing this anymore. You can only have so much flair after your fifth spinal fusion.

The magic is gone. MGM killed it.
