4. Please don't defame mules

Mules get a bad rap. In truth, they are smarter than horses. They are hard working and beautiful animals who know when they are tired and have had enough, which is why they get a bad rap for being "stubborn", because, unlike horses, who will work until they drop, mules will just stop when they've had it. They're gorgeous when they're brushed and cleaned up well. In some Latin American countries, mules are specially bred and trained as riding animals, particularly for women. When my dad was in Baja California many years ago he saw a number of examples of this and he brought pictures of them home.
