Trump says Ukraine has to continue to "fight" Russia because, a ceasefire would disadvantage them both

...after boasting at the Zelensky press appearance that he 'never needed a ceasefire' in any of the imaginary wars he stopped (hear that Norway *sanctions* Nobel committee?), and acknowledging that ceasefires 'save lives,' Donald nonetheless follows with, 'They have to fight."

"I didn't do any ceasefires. Would I like … I like the concept. You know, I like the concept of a ceasefire for one reason, because you'd stop killing people immediately as opposed to in two weeks or one week or whatever it takes. But we can work a deal where we're working on a peace deal while they're fighting. They have to fight. I wish they could stop. I'd like them to stop, but strategically, that could be a disadvantage for one side or the other. But all of these deals I made without even the mention of the word ceasefire."

This a tacit admission that this U.S. president has been either conspiring with Putin, or is just independently advantaging his 'land swap' for peace appeasement behind Putin's continued slaughter of Ukraine's civilians.

He calls it 'fighting' as if there wasn't one aggressor country, and one nation defending itself, and the most outrageous thing here is that TRUMP IS OPENLY ENCOURAGING MORE ATTACKS FROM RUSSIA AGAINST CIVILIANS to pressure Pres. Zelensky into the 'land swap' surrender posture he's been encouraging in these negotiations.

This isn't some neutral party in the middle of someone else's fight. The defense of Ukraine against our military and nuclear adversary is a defense of our European allies beyond Ukraine; and, by extension, the national security of the U.S..

Trump is discarding Ukrainians like they're just abstractions, a means to his repeated complaints about how bothersome this whole thing is for him. This defense of our own nation's national security interests in Europe.

It's not as if this president is actually going to stand up to Putin on his own. Trump-forbid that Russia is 'disadvantaged' from killing the innocent civilians of our actual ally in this fight.

Ukraine has been cast as the fall-guy in a rigged, Trump-sponsored death match; outsized and overmatched against Russia.

1. Trump isn't fighting for peace in Ukraine, he's managing Russia's victory

Trump has directly supported Russia’s war effort this year in the prosecution of its invasion of Ukraine. He cut arms supplies from the US. He suspended Ukraine’s access to real-time intelligence as Russia re-took the Kursk region of territory captured last year by Kyiv.

“President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight,” Trump said on his social media posts.

He means Ukraine should just give up – throw in the towel and hope that Russia won’t attack again. Putin will attack again. He invaded first in 2014, agreed various later ceasefires, then invaded in earnest in 2022.

He wants all of Ukraine. He has said so many times. He also wants eastern Europe back in the Russian sphere just like in the days of the Soviet empire. He said its loss was the greatest global catastrophe the world had ever seen. He wants it back and Trump wants to give it to him.
