Some things have been snapping into focus lately. Like his hair. Why is it suddenly grey and less elaborate? Because, he can’t hold his arms over his head for long periods of time any more. Towards the end of the last election, we started to see the stupid hat even more. We always knew he favored the hat for windy, outdoor days. Then, it started to show up more often on calm nights. It started to show up indoors. Most of us assumed he was lazy and tired and selling hats and don’t get me wrong - he IS all of those things - but I think there was more to it. I think he started having too much fatigue trying to hold his arms up over his head for any meaningful period of time. Not a great sign for his physical health.

I’ve been thinking about things like that lately. It’s not pleasant for anyone, but it must be particularly terrifying to someone like him. Watching the systems crackle, misfinre and begin to blink out one by one when you’ve spent your whole life insisting that people everywhere should marvel at what a glorious specimen you are, that must leave him in flopsweat.

It makes me warm and fuzzy inside.
